Newsies Star Jeremy Jordan and Keke Palmer Celebrate Joyful Noise at Planet Hollywood

Newly minted Newsies star Jeremy Jordan joined film and TV favorite Keke Palmer at Planet Hollywood in Times Square on January 13, where they donated a costume to promote the release of their new movie Joyful Noise. The film, which also stars music legends Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah, marks the motion picture debut of Broadway's Jordan.

Joyful Noise director Todd Graff saw Jordan perform on Broadway in Rock of Ages, when then-swing Jordan was asked to go on for leading man, American Idol alum Constantine Maroulis, at the last minute. “It was my first time to step onto a Broadway stage,” Jordan told Broadway.com. “I guess [Graff] took a liking to me.” The director never forgot the golden-voiced actor's performance. “One day, I got a call that they were flying me out to L.A. to go straight to [Joyful Noise] callbacks,” Jordan said. He was cast as Parton’s grandson within the week.

Audiences who know Palmer for her performance in Akeelah and the Bee may be surprised to see her sing on screen. “Even though most people know me from [film], singing was my first love,” she told Broadway.com. Will we be seeing Palmer on Broadway soon? "That would be really fun," she said.

Catch Joyful Noise when hits theaters on January 13, then see Jordan in Newsies on Broadway starting March 15.
